Unwavering Determination

Good Day Patriots!

We have an incredible story to share with you.

This past week, we welcomed an extraordinary individual to our ranch - Jim Weber. Jim's journey to Heroes Ranch began in January when he reached out to us with a unique request. He was on a mission called the Super 10, a quest to hunt ten iconic North American species: elk, mule deer, black bear, antelope, caribou, buffalo, mountain goat, moose, mountain lion, and bighorn sheep.

What makes Jim's journey even more remarkable is that he has been battling ALS for eight years. Despite this challenge, he is determined to be the first ever para/quadriplegic to complete the Super 10 mission. Jim shared his hunting experiences and the adaptive equipment he uses, sparking our eagerness to support his mission and learn from his perspective to make Heroes Ranch the best adaptive ranch in the country.

Although we couldn't offer him a bighorn sheep hunt, Jim expressed a desire to hunt Fallow deer. We quickly arranged for him to come to the ranch, with Jim offering to donate his adaptive equipment in exchange for a Fallow deer hunting experience.

Unfortunately, a car accident in March disrupted Jim's plans. All of his adaptive equipment was damaged, but thankfully, Jim was unharmed. When Jim was ready to reschedule for October, we eagerly awaited his arrival.

Jim arrived earlier this week, and after understanding his unique requirements, we began the process of sighting in his rifle. To our amazement, Jim proved to be one of the most skilled shots we've ever had at the ranch! We embarked on the hunt, and Jim's skills were on full display. On the first evening, he successfully harvested a trophy Fallow Buck, and the next evening, an Axis doe. In between hunts, we collaborated on modifying our action track wheelchair, enabling a para or quadriplegic to fire a rifle from their wheelchair.

During the final day of Jim's visit, we took some time to enjoy fishing here at Heroes Ranch. In our conversations, Jim expressed that Heroes Ranch was, by far, the nicest and only truly adaptive ranch he had ever visited. He praised our top three features: the adaptive side-by-side vehicle, Heroes Ranch’s overall accessibility, and our full adaptive blinds.

The side-by-side allowed Jim to enjoy a ride he hadn't experienced in almost a decade due to his ALS diagnosis, and he described it as "AWESOME."

Jim's visit not only marked a significant milestone for him but also forged a deep friendship between Heroes Ranch and an extraordinary individual. It was a humbling experience to witness Jim's unwavering determination to overcome adversity and inspire others to believe in the boundless possibilities, regardless of their circumstances.

Jim's story reinforces our commitment to providing a welcoming and adaptive environment for all, and we're proud to be part of his mission. We look forward to sharing more inspiring stories like this with you in the future.

Thank you for your ongoing support for Heroes Ranch and our mission to make the outdoors accessible to all.
